Alexander Girard
Color, Warmth and Humanity
Alexander Girard (1907-1993) was one of the leading figures of postwar American design. Trained as an architect, Girard made a name for himself in the fields of furniture, exhibition, interior and graphic design, but was perhaps most well known for his textiles. A master of color, both bold and subtle, Girard injected the postwar period with much needed warmth and humanity.
